birdwatching Birds and popular culture I
Extracted book "Birds Iberian popular culture" , the wonderful collection of sayings, legends, poems and popular knowledge of Iberian birds by my friend Antonio Pestana, there is a fine example of the sensitivity and delicacy of popular song about the birds:
"The plovers (ortega) nests in the field,
and lays eggs in fallow.
I also put the balls
; between your two breasts. "
; In Abion (Soria)
course, there are other coplillas as
; "Beautiful Cardelines
claimed the nightingale;
who was in the tree green
biting the white flower:
- Nightingale, nightingale,
if you do not answer me,
What will my love,
; What will my love? "
; De Sotillo del Rincón (Soria)
O:
"Swallow, Swallow,
you to know Where are you going,
again next year
and so you make me happy. "
Altura (Castellón)
Y is:
; "Sing the finch in the tree
and in the meadow the nightingale,
and here the waiters sing
that we have plenty of good humor " .
De Ezcaray (La Rioja )
