Narrated Abu Hurairah
(ran) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said concerning the sea, "the water is pure and extracted from it is lawful. "Narrated by Four. Ibn Abu Sheibah recounted the same version, Ibn Juzaima and Tirmidhi Hadith considered the legitimate. I also told Malik, and Ahmad Sha'afi. (Book: Bulug Al-Maram)

named Abdullah Abu Hurairah and Ibn Abdur-Rahman ad-Dausi shachar (range) was one of the greatest Sahaba (Companions of the Prophet ( saw)) who reported a number of hadith, and more than eighty people told their stories. He accepted Islam in the year of Khaibar (7 I) and remained in company of the Prophet (saw) until he died. He was appointed mufti during the caliphate of 'Umar and then governor of Medinah during the reign of Marwan Ibn Al-Hakam. He died in 59 I and buried in the cemetery of Al-Baqi '.
"The water is pure": it is pure water for ablutions.
"And that is extracted from it is permissible" refers to the sea animals like fish or shellfish. Halal food is for them. Land animals that die at sea are halal eating.
"Four": Al-Arba '. Abu Daud, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah Nasai.
